One of the problems with photographing gates is that the background seen through the gate often detracts from the image. In this case, I find, the background enhances the photo. Lucky day. This gate, an original, hand forged design, features my favorite kind of latch: a simple spring latch with no moving parts, driven by the flexibility of steel.
